Richard Evoy, P.Eng.
Mechanical engineer since 1991, Richard started his career in hydropower as the mechanical Balance-of-Plant team leader for Alstom in Granby (Québec) in 1997 before he founded his own business, Vortex Hydro, for which he was the CEO and the senior design engineer from 2001 to 2016.
He has participated to the production of more than seven hundred systems in service in almost a hundred sites around the world.
Marc-Olivier Thibault, P.Eng. – M. Eng.
A mechanical engineer since 2007, Marc-Olivier began his career as a Balance-of-Plant Systems Engineer in 2009 at Alstom in Sorel-Tracy (Québec). He then joined Vortex Hydrostèmes inc. / Voith in 2016 as the engineering manager before becoming head of BOPM in June 2018.
He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from École de Technologie Supérieure (Montréal). The subject of his Master’s degree is a design guide for hydraulic governor system for hydroelectric power plant.
He designed and commissioned many complex hydraulic system such as gate maneuvering system (ring gate, downstream gate and butterfly intake valve), high and low pressure governor oil systems, several bearing lube oil system for horizontal units and shaft seal oil systems for synchronous condensers.
